Did you know that by keeping the vehicle registration sticker in your car, truck, motorcycle, or trailer up-to-date, you’re helping Texas build and maintain our highways, roads, and bridges?

Problem is, drivers who are late to register or fail to register their vehicles, and newcomers to Texas who don’t register in the 30-day grace period, deprive Texas of badly needed funds.

That’s why we say, Check the date, love your state ® and Put Texas in your corner. ® When you keep your registration sticker current, you’re sticking up for all of us. And that makes you an official Registered Texan.

So, what next? If you have proof of vehicle insurance, you have 4 easy ways to register:

  • Visit your county tax office(s). If you don’t already have a Texas vehicle registration sticker, or your sticker has expired, this is your one and only option.
  • Visit a county “subcontractor.” If your registration sticker is current and you’ve received a registration reminder from the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles, there may be a grocery store or other business close by which can process your vehicle registration renewal. Call your tax office to see if they use subcontractors and if one is located near you.
  • Register by mail. If you were mailed a registration reminder from the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles, simply follow the directions and mail it back in the no-stamp-needed envelope.
  • Renew online. Most Texas counties enable you to renew your registration online. If your Texas registration is current, simply go to www.texas.gov and follow the directions.
